MARYSVILLE, Ca. -- The Medford Rogues (13-6) defeated the Marysville Gold Sox (6-12), 2-1 on Monday Night at Colusa Casino Stadium.

On a day where the temperature at first pitch was 105 degrees, Medford’s own Dylan Pearce (Oregon State University) delivered a gutsy performance, going six innings, striking out six, and giving up just one earned run on four hits.

The Gold Sox jumped out to an early one-run lead in the first, but the Rogues answered in the top of the second, thanks to back-to-back doubles by Dante Gutierrez (University of San Diego) and Eric Yang (UC Santa Barbara). Yang went 3-3 on the day.

Caleb Smith (Linn Benton CC) walked to lead off the bottom of the third. Alex Isola (Utah) came up to bat later in the inning and drove Smith home with an RBI single.

Taylor Frost (Southern Idaho) was brought in to pitch with the bases loaded and just one out in the ninth inning. Frost got the batter to fly out to Jake Hellweg (Bethune Cookman), who then fired a lazer to home plate to gun down the would-be tying run to end the game. Frost earned the save, his first of the year.
