ALAMEDA, Ca. – The Medford Rogues (26-12) lost to the California Bees (8-26) 3-2 in ten innings on Thursday morning at the College of Alameda.

Omar Ortiz (Vanguard University) hit a sacrifice sac fly to center field to allow Tre’Von Dorsey (undecided) to tag up and score the Rogues first earned run.

Maxx Mahon (Vanguard University) doubled down the third base line for the first hit of the game for the Rogues. After a ground out by Joe Johnson (Vanguard University), Mahon scored the first run of the game for the Rogues off an error by the Bee’s catcher.

The Bees had runners at first and third with only one out in a tied game in the bottom of the 6th inning. Catcher Ryan Gamboa (Academy of Art University) threw out one of the runners at second to alleviate stress on pitcher Brice Foster (Menlo College).

Bee’s catcher Josh Levy hit a weak grounder to first. Joe Johnson then returned the ball home allowing Ryan Gamboa to tag out the winning run. After intentionally walking Eric Mitchell to load the bases, Brice Foster saved the inning denying the Bee’s any extra runs.

Starting pitcher Gilbert Romero (Chico State) had two earned runs on five hits in his five inning start.

Bottom of the 10th, Brice Foster intentionally walked Eric Mitchell to cause the bases to be loaded. Foster then hit Alec White with a pitch causing the walk-off run to come home.
